Policemen from Katowice received a tip-off about possible sale of counterfeit Versace products. They simultaneously raided stores in the Silesian, Lublin, Lesser Poland, and Warmian-Masurian voivodeships. They seized a total of 109 carpets bearing illegally applied Versace trademarks. The confiscated goods were transported to the police warehouse as evidence in the case. The value of the carpets was estimated at almost 7 million Polish złoty. During the investigation supervised by the District Prosecutors Office in Katowice-Południe, detectives determined that a 62-year-old owner of a wholesale shop was responsible for the scheme. A resident of the Lublin voivodeship, she was charged with marking goods with counterfeit trademarks, punishable by up to 2 years in prison under the Industrial Property Law.
